Why this blog?

Washington is full of smart people who are more concerned with being re-elected than making common sense decisions related to the future of this great country. With that in mind, and as a right of center Republican, I am declaring my candidacy for the 2028 Republican Presidential nomination. My intent is to fill this blog with common sense takes on any and all issues facing our elected officials. I hope you enjoy what follows.

Social Security - Social Security is a vital program contributing to the stability of our society by providing for the financial security of our retirees, the disabled, and survivors. When I am elected President, one of my first acts will be to use any political capital I earned in the election to push Congress to fix the system before it runs out of money. Everyone knows the system must be fixed, and that the longer we wait the more difficult it will be to fix it. My message to all members of Congress, Republican or Democrat, will be to listen to the Commissioner of Social Security for recommendations to fix the system, i.e. make it solvent, and to hold their noses and sign off on a bipartisan deal to shore up the system for decades to come.
